Gary D. James is Director of the Institute for Primary and Preventative Health Care and Professor of Nursing, Anthropology and Bioengineering at Binghamton University. He earned his PhD in Biological Anthropology (Human Biology Program) from the Pennsylvania State University and had post-doctoral training in hypertension and cardiovascular endocrinology at the Weil College of Medicine of Cornell University. He is author or co-author of over 300 peer-reviewed publications examining physiological and endocrine adaptations to the dynamic stresses of everyday life, the relation of these responses to the development of chronic diseases, the cardiovascular health effects of modernization, women′s health, the functioning of the renin-angiotensin system and ambulatory blood pressure technology. He is an elected fellow of the AAAS and the Society of Behavioral Medicine, an elected member of the Harvey Society, and is a past-president of the Human Biology Association and American Dermatoglyphics Association.
