Director of the Clinical Psychology Department
Centro Arborétum, El Salvador
I was born in El Salvador, Central America. Like all developing countries, the needs here are many and resources are scarce. When I was about to start my studies in psychology, university education was very poor here. Seeking for better educational opportunities and willing to learn more, I moved to Europe. I did my studies in psychology, specialized in the clinical area, doing both treatment and research. During that time, I became more and more interested on eating disorders, depression, anxiety and psychosomatic disorders. Before I noticed, twelve years had passed. Almost three years ago I decided to bring what I learned abroad and plant it in this fertile land, hoping it could grow in El Salvador. I founded Arborétum in association with colleagues with different fields of expertise. This is an institution with three primary goals: psychological treatment for patients, professional training and research.
