Dr. Hobbs is originally from Evansville, Indiana, and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology from Indiana State University in Terre Haute. He earned his doctorate in Biochemistry at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, with a thesis entitled, “Organization and In Vitro Translation of Maize Chlorotic Mottle Virus RNA”. He completed Postdoctoral training at SUNY Stony Brook in the laboratory of Dr. Melvin V. Simpson, working on the toxicity of dideoxynucleosides and the role of mitochondria. Dr. Hobbs completed a fellowship in clinical chemistry at the University of Louisville School of Medicine which included both clinical and research responsibilities. He has held positions with numerous commercial laboratory firms and is currently Technical Director, Toxicology, Quest Diagnostics, Inc. in Cambridge Mass. He is a member of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry and a fellow of the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry.
