Biography

In 1999 Dr. Guillermo Garcia Effron received Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry degree from the National University of Litoral of Santa Fe in Argentina. Then he worked as Microbiologist at San Martín Hospital (Paraná – Argentina) and followed by training in Mycology at the Mycology Department at the Malbran Institute (Buenos Aires – Argentina). He spent 5 years at the Carlos III Health Institute of Majadahonda (Madrid) in Spain as a PhD student. He received a PhD in Microbiology from the Complutense University of Madrid in Spain then he did post-doctoral fellowship in Mycology and drug resistance at the Public Health Research Institute at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New jersey in Newark, NJ (USA) (2006-2009). Dr. Guillermo Garcia Effron currently working as Adjunct Mycology Professor and Associated Investigator at the Argentinian National Council of Scientific and Technical Researches.

Research Interest

Dr. Guillermo Garcia Effron main research interest lies within fungal antifungal drugs resistance mechanisms. A major emphasis of his research comprises azole resistance in Aspergillus spp., echinocandin resistance and molecular tools to rapid detect clinical antifungal drug resistance.
