Hideki Takagi

Hideki Takagi was born in Gifu, Japan, in 1962. He received the B.E. degree in Physical Education from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, in 1985, and the Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Mie University, Tsu, Japan, in 2000. In 2001, he joined the School of Health and Sports Sciences, University of Tsukuba, Japan, as an Assistant Professor, and in 2011 became a Professor. His current research interests include biomechanics and hydrodynamics in human swimming, sports engineering, developing swimming gear and sports coaching science. Dr. Takagi is a fellow of the International Society of Biomechanics ISB), International Society of Sports Biomechanics (ISBS), and etc. He is a life member of the Japanese Society of Sciences in swimming and water exercise (SWEX), and a member of the editorial board of Journal of Japan Journal of Physical Education, Health and Sport Sciences and Japan Journal Sports Sciences. He was the recipient of the Young Investigate Award of the Japan Society of Biomechanics in 1992, the Komoto Awards of the University of Tsukuba in 2004.
