Hugh J. Lavery

Biography

Dr. Hugh J. Lavery is a clinical researcher and urologic oncologist with extensive experience in surgical robotics. He has a specific research focus on prostate cancer, bladder cancer and public policy relating to these diseases. His interests are improving perioperative staging and surgical techniques for patients with prostate and bladder cancer, as well as comparative effectiveness research for clinically localized prostate cancer. He also investigated the feasibility and application of minimally-invasive techniques in the treatment of a variety of urologic diseases. Through this research, he hopes to optimize patient selection for treatment and perioperative outcomes, improving not only cancer-specific survival, but also health-related quality of life.
