Dr. Hui-Wen Lo, Ph.D. is Associate Professor at Duke University School of Medicine. She is also a member of the Duke University Comprehensive Cancer Center, Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University and Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation at Duke University. She acquired her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from University of Texas-Health Science Center at Houston in 2002 and conducted her postdoctoral fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center during 2002-2006. Dr. Lo joined Duke University School of Medicine in 2006 as a tenure-track Assistant Professor and is presently Associate Professor of Surgery in the same Institute. She has served as a Scientific Reviewer on several DoD grant review panels, as well as, members of editorial boards of a number of journals. She also serves as ad hoc reviewers for a number of journals for more than 15 years.
Dr. Lo research interests are primarily focused on human cancers. Her laboratory is most interested in gaining a deeper understanding of cancer biology and in providing rationales for more effective, less toxic anti-cancer treatments. Current projects in her laboratory are investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer stem cells, tumor progression and metastasis and the therapeutic strategies that target these processes.
