Dr. Ian Gibson is AssociateProfessor in the Department Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore. He specialises in manufacturing technology, in particular Additive Manufacturing where he is a world-renowned expert with a number of research innovations and initiatives to his name. Most recently, he co-authored the book ‘Additive Manufacturing: from Rapid Prototyping to Direct Digital Manufacturing’ published ny Springer in 2009. He has been involved in design for the Shell Eco-marathon for a number of years where student groups from NUS have been very successful in the Urban Concept category.
In automotive he is particularly interested in design methodologies and low energy vehicles.
