James Wallace SLEIGH is Professor of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, Waikato Clinical School, University of Auckland, New Zealand (2001-present). He received his MBChB (Cape Town ) 1979, and specialised in anaesthesia, receiving his FFARCS (UK) in 1985 and FANZCA in 1995. He also has Dip App Stats from Massey University in 1994, and his research degree (MD) from the University of Auckland in 2001. He is a reviewer for 12 journals, and has published over 125 papers in the peer reviewed literature. He is a practicing clinician in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine. His research interests include: EEG and depth of anaesthesia, mechanisms of anaesthesia, anaesthesia and seizures, and the molecular biology of sepsis.
