Biography

Dr. Vrbanac received degrees in Biochemistry (BS, 1972) and then Pharmacology (PhD, 1983) from Michigan State University. During this time, he also worked and trained in qualitative and quantitative mass spectrometry at the NIH-MSU Mass Spectrometry Facility, gaining broad instrumental and applications experience in mass spectrometry while working with Charles Sweeley and Emmett Braselton. Metabolic Profiling and Pharmacology were of specific interest. Dr Vrbanac’s next position was Assistant Professor, Pharmacology, Medical University of SC working with Daniel Knapp. Specfic areas of research included quantitative analysis of eicosanoids by GC-NCIMS and clinical applications of MS. In 1988 Dr. Vrbanac accepted a position at The Upjohn Company (DMPK) and worked in Discovery and Development capacities, World-Wide In-Licensing and Preclinical Ophthalmology. In 2003, Dr. Vrbanac became a co-founder of PharmOptima and Biopolymer Innovations, and in 2011 he became Director of ADME at MPI Research. Presently, Dr. Vrbanac is owner at Vrbanac Consulting LLC.
