Dr. John D. Lang, Jr. is currently Chief of Anesthesiology at the VA Puget Sound Health System, University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, WA. He is Associate Professor of Anesthesiology, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (Adjunct). He completed training programs in Internal Medicine (1989-1992), Anesthesiology (1992-1995) and Critical Care Medicine (1995-1996) at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. Prior to arriving in Seattle in 2006, he was a faculty anesthesiologist / intensivist at the University of Alabama Birmingham for 10 years. He has been previously funded by agencies such as the National Institutes of Health and American Heart Association with a focus on oxidative mechanisms in acute lung injury. He has received numerous teaching awards and been actively involved in high-impact multi-institutional critical care clinical trials. He is a reviewer for Critical Care Medicine, the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine and Anesthesiology.
