Biography

Dr. John D. Parker received his medical degree from Queen’s University in Kingston Ontario in 1984.  Following three years of training in internal medicine at Queens, he went to the Brigham and Woman’s Hospital in Boston where he completed five years of clinical and research training in cardiovascular medicine.  He returned to Toronto in 1992 to take up his first faculty position as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto.  At the present time, he holds the rank of Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology at the University of Toronto. Dr. Parker is a clinician scientist at the Mount Sinai and University Health Network Hospital.  He has a major interest in clinical research with a focus on clinical pharmacology and autonomic physiology in heart failure.  These clinical research activities are supported by an active clinical program involving patient care.  Dr. Parker is active as an invasive cardiologist and participates in a large clinical program involving the assessment and management of patients with advanced chronic congestive heart failure.

Research Interest

Major interest in clinical research with a focus on clinical pharmacology and autonomic physiology in heart failure.
