JUHEE AHN

Biography

Dr. Juhee Ahn received his Ph.D. degree majoring in Microbiology at the University of Missouri-Columbia, USA (2003) and continued his work as a post-doctoral research assistant in Food Microbiology Lab. at the University of Missouri (2003-2004). He conducted the research on the phylactic use of probiotic bacteria as an alternative approach for improving the microbial balance of the intestinal systems. He also worked in the Food Safety and Engineering Lab. at the Ohio State University (2004-2006). The project focused on screening and identifying Clostridium botulinum surrogates for validating high pressure processing of foods. He was a visiting scholar at the University of Maryland (2012-2013) as well as Zhejiang University (2016-2017). Currently, Dr. Ahn is a Professor in the Department of Medical Biomaterials Engineering at Kangwon National University, South Korea. His current research field is the microbial pathogenesis, including the mechanistic studies of antibiotic resistance, bacterial infection, and bacteriophage control.
