Dr. Julia L Cook is the CoDirector of Molecular Genetics at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans She holds adjunct associate professor positions at Tulane University Medical Center Dept of Medicine Section of Cardiology and at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Ophthalmology and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology departments Dr Cook received her BS in Microbiology and MS in Biology from University of Central Florida She was awarded her PhD in Genetics from North Carolina State University in 1986 She has served on the Editorial Boards of Analytical Biochemistry and Hypertension and is currently section editor for The Ochsner Journal Dr Cook has worked in several basic research areas including neurobiology and cancer Her current focus is the cellular and molecular biology of hypertension and particularly the intracrine or intracellular reninangiotensin system a new paradigm in hypertension and an area in which she is considered a leader.
