Klaus Podar, MD degree from the Medical University of Vienna, his MSc. from the University of Vienna/Faculty of Life Sciences, and his PhD from the University of Vienna/Faculty of Life Sciences and Harvard Medical School, where he joined the Faculty in 2004. In 2009 Dr. Podarmoved to the NCT, University of Heidelberg and DKFZ, where he accepted the position of a hematologist/oncologist and research group leader. Dr. Podar has presented numerous lectures at both national and international meetings; has published more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles, educational book chapters, and state-of-the-art reviews both in basic as well as clinical research; is the recipient of numerous awards; member of professional societies including ASH, AACR, and EHA; and serves on the editorial board of several scientific journals. His lab investigates signal transduction pathways within the tumor microenvironment (e.g. multiple myeloma), which support tumor cell survival, proliferation, migration and drug resistance.
