Lawrence DeLuca, EdD, MD received his medical degree from the University of Miami/Miller School of Medicine. He completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at the University of Arizona as well as fellowships in EM Research and Surgical Critical Care. Dr. DeLuca is currently an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Arizona Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. DeLuca is the first EM-trained intensivist to have privileges at the University of Arizona, where he attends in both the Emergency Department and the Cardiothoracic Surgery ICU. He is the director of the Sepsis/Infectious Disease Research Focus Unit of the Arizona Emergency Medicine Research Center.
His research interests include the use of biomarkers in the diagnosis and management of sepsis and in less-invasive monitoring devices for guiding the resuscitation of critically ill patients.
