Lei Zhang

Biography

Dr. Lei Zhang, molecular biologist, graduated from University of Bremen, Germany. Dr. Zhang′s primary research expertise evolves in the development of state-of-art biotechnologies, such as microarray design and application; and cancer diagnostic biomarker development using Omics technologies. His cutting edge work has introduced a new means for battling this high impact cancer, i.e. saliva as a diagnostic tool that may aid in early detection of this devastating disease. Dr. Zhang’s original findings have been published in international and national peer-reviewed scientific journals. Five patents have been filed or granted internationally. Dr. Zhang, as the Principal Investigator has been awarded grants from the California Breast Cancer Research Program and the Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program. In addition, he has worked as key investigator on projects that received funding from the National Institutes of Health.

Research Interest

Discovery of biomarkers for early diagnosis of systemic cancers, such as lung, breast and pancreatic cancers, investigation of sources and molecular mechanisms of body-fluid-biomarkers for cancer diagnosis.
