He is in charge of clinical research programs and experimental protocols for indolent non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas.
His research is the focused on the definition of the relationship among lymphoma and hepatitis C virus chronic infection, with collaborative and autonomous studies and in clinico-pathological, biological and prognostic characterization of novel clinical entities, in particular marginal zone-related neoplasms. Luca Arcaini chaired a national project entitled Margianl zone Project (2003-2006). This project collected the largest series of splenic marginal zone patients publishes so far (Blood 2006) and permitted to develop a prognostic score for clinical use. His research activity is also aimed to experimentation of novel modalities of treatments combining anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody and chemotherapy (immunochemotherapy) with an original clinical and pharmacokinetic model of immunochemotherapy, in vivo purging and lymphoma-free peripheral progenitors cells.
