Marco Conte research interests are focused in the field of heterogeneous catalysis with particular emphasis on the chemistry of supported and unsupported metal nanoparticles and metal oxides, involving catalyst preparation, characterization and investigation of reaction mechanisms. This involves the study of multiphase oxidation, hydrochlorination and halogen abstraction reactions, making use of spectroscopic tools such as: electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), in situ UV-Vis, in situ DRIFT and in situ X-ray powder diffraction. This also includes the identification of reaction intermediates and reaction mechanisms by labelled isotope studies and EPR spin trapping methods.
