Biography

Marilidia Piglionica graduated cum laude in Cellular and Molecular Biology, University “Aldo Moro” of Bari, Italy, in 2009. She earned a PhD in “Medical-Legal Pathology and Criminal Techniques” at Forensic Genetics Laboratory, University “Aldo Moro” of Bari, Italy, in 2013. She is specializing in Medical Genetics at University “Tor Vergata” of Rome, Italy. She has always performed her teaching and research activity at the University of Bari.

Research Interest

Marilidia Piglionica’s main scientific interest is the study of DNA polymorphisms for personal identification purposes and kinship analysis. The most original and appreciated studies are those regarding the forensic applications of haploid markers of DNA (Y chromosomes), small markers of DNA (mini-STRs) and DNA extraction from ancient human bones.
