Dr. Marjan Gucek is the Director of Proteomics Core at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in Bethesda, MD. His lab supports and collaborates with around 40 labs within NHLBI intramural program with topics ranging from cardiovascular proteomics to mitochondrial proteins. Dr. Gucek’s main interests are in the protein post-translational modifications, especially nitrosylation, acetylation and ubiquitination.
Before joining the NIH in 2009, Dr. Gucek was at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore as a Proteomics Specialist in the JHU Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry core. Dr. Gucek received his PhD in 2000 from University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Dr. Gucek published around 60 peer reviewed papers and was the recipient of the 2012 NHLBI Orloff award.
