Research Interest

The research interests of Dr. Takahashi are the molecular mechanisms and the development of novel effective therapies for atherosclerosis and ischemic heart diseases, especially in the role of inflammation and regeneration. In particular, Dr. Takahashi focuses on the inflammasome, a large multiprotein complex which plays an important role in autoinflammatory responses by participating in the production of IL-1beta, as well as SDF-1/CXCR4 system, a chemokine and its receptor system involved in the processes of chemotaxis, cell proliferation and survival, angiogenesis and tissue regeneration.
