Michael Blaivas

Biography

Dr. Blaivas trained in emergency medicine and went on to complete an Emergency Ultrasound fellowship at the University of Illinois, Christ Hospital Medical Center. Pursuing his interests in ultrasound education, research and application development he achieving the rank of professor of emergency medicine and now works outside of Atlanta. Dr. Blaivas has been the chairman of the emergency ultrasound sections for ACEP, SAEM and AIUM. He is a founding member of WINFOCUS and immediate past president. Dr. Blaivas is involved with multiple national and international specialty societies. He has edited two books and authored over 120 peer reviewed articles. He is currently on the SUSME board and is the vice-president of the society.
