Michal Hrdlicka, M.D., Ph.D. is Professor of Psychiatry and Chair of the Department of Child Psychiatry at the Charles University Second Medical School in Prague, Czech Republic. He received his M.D. from the Masaryk University Medical School in Brno (1989) and his Ph.D. from the Charles University First Medical School in Prague (1996). He published more than 170 scientific publications. He was main author or editor of five books: Dementia and Memory Disorders (1999), Electroconvulsive Therapy (1999), Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (2000), Childhood Autism (2004), and Mid-life Crisis: Problems and Chances (2006). In 1998, Dr. Hrdlicka launched the first systematic diagnostic program for autism spectrum disorders in the Czech Republic.
