Ming Pei

Biography

Ming Pei is an Associate Professor and a Director of Stem Cell and Tissue Engineering Laboratory in the Department of Orthopaedics, West Virginia University. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor in Exercise Physiology and Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at the West Virginia University. He spent three years as a Postdoctoral Associate in Harvard – M.I.T. Division of Health Sciences and Technology (HST) focusing on Bioreactor and Cartilage Tissue Engineering Projects, and three years as a Research Fellow in Department of Orthopaedics, Brown University focusing on Stem Cell Projects. He received his PhD from Beijing University, China in 1999. He is an Active Member of Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS, since 2002), Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS, since 2002), and Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI, since 2006). He serves as a reviewer for 39 journals and 10 grant agencies.  He also serves as a reviewer for Annual ORS meeting abstract. He has 56 papers published in peer-review journals and more than 73 abstracts accepted for conference presentation.

Research Interest

Research Interests include Cartilage Tissue Engineering and Regeneration and Defect Repair, Intervertebral Disc Tissue Regeneration, Bone Tissue Engineering and Regeneration, Defect Repair and Fracture Healing,    Adult Stem Cell Proliferation and Differentiation, In Vitro 3D Microenvironment and Extracellular Matrix, Chondrogenic Signaling Pathway and Epigenetic Regulation.
