Dr. Mojtaba Akhtari is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran. Then, he moved to England, where he received training in internal medicine and hematology. He served in the Department of Hematological Medicine, King’s College Hospital in London, England. He moved to Evanston, Illinois, USA, where he completed his residency in internal medicine at Saint Francis Hospital of Evanston, and he also received Humanism in Medicine Award. He undertook fellowship training in hematology and medical oncology at Winship Cancer Institute, Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, and during this time he specialized in the management of benign and malignant hematological disorders, stem cell transplantation, and solid tumors. He is board certified in Internal medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. He is an active member of the American Society of Hematology (ASH), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (ASBMT). Dr. Akhtari is a member of the Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Panel of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN).
Acute and chronic leukemias as well as myelodysplastic syndromes, therapy-related myeloid neoplasms, familial leukemias, immune cytopenias, and bone marrow transplantation.
