Dr. Munirul Alam is a Senior Scientist at the International Center forDiarrhoeal Diseases Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B), which is an Internationally very highly reputed Health Research Center situated in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Dr. Alam has been the Functional Principal Investigator (PI) of the Ecology Part of the Major 5-Years Research Project, which for its excellent work has been funded for the Third-Time by the National Institute of Health (NIH), USA .He holds Bachelor of Science (Honors in Botany) and Master of Science (Thesis in Microbiology) degrees with distinction from University of Dhaka. Dr. Alam obtained hisPhD degree in Microbiology in 1996 from Okayama University, Japan and held the positions of Assistant Professor followed by Associate Professor at the Department of Microbiology, University of Dhaka before joining in 2003 at ICDDR,B as a Consultant Scientist. Dr. Alam has been appointed Senior Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins University (since 2011-) and visiting Fellow of University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia (2011-14).
