Prof, Department of Agrobiology
Niigata University, Niigata,a, Japan
Dr.aNaotaka Furuichi's laboratory is concerned with elucidating the mechanisms of plant hypersensitive cell death of host plants. The lab devotes on the recognition receptors for PiP elicitor and suppressor of the defense reaction in plant cells. Current studies are examining to analyze the interaction of Ca2+-dependent protein kinase, NADPH oxidases (Active Oxygen Generating Enzyme) and suppressor of Phytophthora infestans in a single molecule analysis level in the infected host cells by using the Fluorescent cross correlation (FCS) LSM. Each of projects aims a future bridge between basic science and applied physiological and molecular plant pathology. Dr. Naotaka Furuichi received his Ph.D. degree in Molecular Plant Pathology with the late Professor Kohei Tomiyama at Nagoya University (1981) and had postdoctoral training in the lab of Professor Shoyo Nishimura (1982, Nagoya University) and Anne J. Anderson (1988, Utah State University, Logan, Utah). He was a Project Chair of Plant Defense Center, Center for Transdisciprinary Research, Niigata University, (2003). He also had the Visiting Professor lab, Protein Institute, Osaka University (2005-2007). He had been elected as a Fulblight Senior Scientist, Department of Biology,Utah State University, Logan, Utah (1993-94) and as a Visiting Professor, Department of Biology, Utah State University, Logan, Utah (1993-94). He was a Senior Scientist (1986-92), Institute of Developmental and Reproductive Biology, Yamagata, Japan
