Biography

Dr. Pindi Pavan Kumar is an Associate Professor & Head, Dept of Microbiology, Palamuru University , Mahabubnagar, Andhra Pradesh. He has more than 16 years of research experience and 5 years of teaching experience both at U.G & P.G level, whose thrust areas are Metagenomics & Molecular biology(designed, developed and standardized various protocols), Environmental Microbiology (identified novel bacteria from water samples), Application of bioinoculants (effective bioinoculants were isolated from different regions and studied their effectiveness on selected plants species) and bacterial diversity(identified novel genus and species of various bacteria). He did his Ph.D from Kakatiya University, Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, India under the able guidance of Prof S. Ram Reddy and got his PDF from Germany as DAAD fellow for 2 years. Dr. Pindi worked for more than 6 years as a Post doctoral fellow at CCMB under the esteemed supervision of Dr. Shivaji, Assistant Director, CCMB, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. He identified number of novel genus and species of bacteria from extreme habitats like deep sea, Arctic, Antarctic and Himalayan glaciers. Recently, he identified novel bacteria from stratosphere in collaboration with ISRO. For his contributions to the scientific field he was awarded Young Scientist Award by DST (2009), Commendation Certificate (for his services by the district Collector of Mahabubnagar). To his credit he got more than 53 (20-International; 33-National) research publications in renowned journals and authored number of chapters in popular text books.
