Piyali Dasgupta

Biography

Piyali Dasgupta is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology and Toxicology, Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, Marshall University. Postdoctoral fellowships: College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, NY and the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa Florida. Selected to receive the ASPET-Astellas Award from the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, 2009. She is the only junior investigator selected nationally for this prestigious award. Over 20 peer-reviewed publications. Member of New York Academy of Sciences, American Association of Cancer Research and the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. Reviewer Molecular Cancer, Neoplasia, International Journal of Cancer, Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology and Journal of Cellular Biochemistry.

How nicotine, the major active and addictive component of cigarette smoke, can facilitate the growth and progression of small cell lung cancers.
