Dr. Rakesh Heer received his PhD in prostate stem cell biology at the Newcastle University, UK in 2006. Currently, he is working as Senior Lecturer and Consultant Urological Surgeon with an interest in oncology at Newcastle University and the Freeman Hospital. He was awarded the European Association of Urology’s Best Urological Paper Published in International Literature 2008, and more recently was honoured with an Hunterian Professorship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England 2010. His currently research is supported by a prestigious Clinician Scientist Fellowship form Cancer Research UK and Royal College of Surgeons of England 2010.
His research focus is in using stem cell models for both urological organ regeneration and therapeutic target identification in urological cancers.
