Biography

Eder L. Romero was educated at University of La Plata, Argentina where she obtained her M.A. Biochemistry and PhD in Exact Sciences (1996). Following a post-doctoral research in Groningen University, The Netherlands under the supervision of Prof. Gerrit Sherphof (1997-1998), she returned to Argentina being currently an Independent Researcher at the National Council of Scientific and Technological Research (CONICET) (2006) and Associate Chemistry Professor (2008), at the Department of Science and Technology, National University of Quilmes, Buenos Aires, Argentina. From 2007 she is leading the Nanomedicine Research Program  (NRP). Since 2008 is member of the Advisory Comité of the Argentinean Foundation for Nanotechnology (FAN). From 2010, she is funding member and president of the Argentinean Association for Nanomedicines (Nanomed-ar).  Romero has been responsible for the first and second Nanomedicine School in Latinoamerica (2008, 2010).

Research Interest

My research interest deals with development of targeted nanomedicines (photodynamic therapy) and nanocosmetics a) across the skin b) across the and olfactory mucosa (bypassing the blood brain barrier), c) treatment of infectious parasitic diseases, d) development of vaccination strategies employing biodegradable nano vesicles made of total polar archaeolipids, to be applied by parenteral/ topical/ mucosal routes, as cattle and human adjuvants.
