Dr. Scott T Handy is currently an associate professor of chemistry at Middle Tennessee State University MTSU. He received his BS from the University of Iowa in 1991 and a Ph.D from Indiana University at Bloomington in 1996 under the direction of Professor Paul Grieco. He completed a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University under the direction of Professor Paul Wender. His first academic appointment was at Binghamton University before moving to MTSU in 2005
Dr. Handy′s research has been largely focused in three areas, the continuing development of the intramolecular hydrodimerzation reaction, the use of room temperature ionic liquids as solvents and recyclable supports for Organic synthesis, and the synthesis of polysubstituted heteroaromatics via one pot, regioselective polycouplings on polyhaloheteroaromatics
