Sevgi Kalkanli Tas is a Professor of Immunology at the University of Health Sciences Turkey. She received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from F?rat University (Turkey). She earned her Ph.D. in Immunology from Dicle University, Turkey, examining the factor V Leiden mutation frequency in patients with deep vein thrombosis. She has published widely in the field as co-author of a book, many articles in leading journals, and conference proceedings. Her published work has covered topics including innate and adaptive immune mechanisms against infectious diseases including COVID-19, H. pylori, HIV, and HBV infection.
Her research interests also include the investigation of cellular and molecular mechanisms in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases. She is the Head of the Immunology Department, also teaching medical students and graduate students. She is a fellow of several national and international scientific societies in which she actively participates their events.
