Sherrow O. Pinder received her Ph.D. in 2003 from the New School for Social Research. She is Associate Professor of Political Science and Multicultural and Gender Studies at California State University, Chico. Pinder is the author of three books: Whiteness and Racialized Ethnic Groups in the United States: The Politics of Remembering (2011); The Politics of Race and Ethnicity in the United States: Americanization, De-Americanization, and Racialized Ethnic Groups (2010); and From Welfare to Workfare: How Capitalist States Create a Pool of Unskilled Cheap Labor (A Marxist Feminist Social Analysis) (2007). Her edited book, American Multicultural Studies: Diversity of Race, Ethnicity, Gender and Sexuality was published in 2012. A second edition of her book, The Politics of Race and Ethnicity in the United States: Americanization, De-Americanization, and Racialized Ethnic Groups, with a Preface and a new conclusion will be available in May 2013. Her current book project focuses on black political thought.
