Soren Naaby-Hansen received his medical degree from University of Copenhagen in 1991. Following two years of residency training at Danish hospitals, SNH joined Professor John C. Herr’s laboratory at University of Virginia. During his tenure at UVa SNH initiated the establishment of the sperm protein encyclopedia, a 2DE-based database of the human sperm proteome, which has facilitated the cloning and characterization of several new testis-specific genes and proteins. In 1999 SNH became an Assistant Member and Head of Biochemical Proteomics at Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Royal Free & University College London Medical School, London, UK. In 2006 SNH returned to Denmark where he was appointed Senior Research Scientist at the Department of Clinical Immunology, Aarhus University Hospital, Aalborg.
Soren Naaby Hansen’s research covers a broad range of topics within Reproductive Biology, as well as Cell and Cancer Biology. Naaby-Hansen’s research interests include cell signalling, functional and immunological aspects of cancer-testis antigens, immuno subfertility, and the molecular basis for sperm capacitation & the fertilization process.
