Biography

Dr Stephen Raverty is a board certified veterinary pathologist at the Animal Health Center, Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.  He obtained his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and completed post graduate studies in Aquatic Pathobiology at the University of Stirling, Scotland.  He is veterinary pathologist with the Canadian Cooperative Wildlife Health Center, Director of the Marine Ecosystem Health Network, Adjunct Professor in the Fisheries Department at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC and Research Associate with the Vancouver Public Aquarium.  For the last 15 years, Stephen has been actively involved in the investigation of infectious and noninfectious disease processes in dead stranded and live captured marine mammals in the Pacific Northwest and western arctic. He has pursued investigations into the health status and of hunter harvested beluga and has a particular interest in land to sea transfer of pathogens.
