Susan Deutscher

Biography

Dr. Susan Deutscher graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Purdue University in 1980 She received her PhD in Biochemistry at St Louis University in the laboratory of Dr Carlos Hirschberg in 1985 where she worked on carbohydrateprotein interactions After this she pursued Postdoctoral studies at Duke University in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology She became a faculty member in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Missouri in 1991 and is currently a Professor here and a Research Chemist at the Harry S Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia Missouri.

Research Interest

Role of carbohydrate and protein-protein interactions in cancer. Work focuses on applying novel combinatorial bacteriophage display approaches and structural biochemistry to characterize these interactions.
