Wenfang Sun is the Walter F. and Verna Gehrts Professor at the North Dakota State University (NDSU). She is a Professor of Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at NDSU. She received her B.S. degree from the Department of Chemistry, Wuhan University in China in 1990 and her Ph. D. degree from the Institute of Photographic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1995. She became an Assistant Professor in this institute in 1995 and was promoted to an Associate Professor in 1996. She moved to the Department of Physics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 1997 as a Research Associate and was promoted to a Research Assistant Professor in 1999. In 2001, she joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the North Dakota State University as an Assistant Professor. In 2007, she was promoted to Associate Professor with Tenured. In 2011, she was promoted to Full Professor and became the Gehrts Endowed Professor. She received the CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation, the “NDSU Bison Ambassadors Apple Polisher Award” and the “NDSU College of Science and Mathematics Award for Excellence in Research”, the “Outstanding Visiting Scholar Award” at UAB, the “YILIDA Prize” and “Presidential Award” from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. She has published 70 journal papers since 1993 and 19 conference proceeding full papers. She has been a reviewer for over 20 journals.
