Associate Professor, School of Biomedical Sciences
Chung Shan Medical University, Taichung, Taiwan
Dr. Wen-Wei Chang got his Ph. D. degree in Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, National ChengKung University (Taiwan) in 2006. Dr. Changcompletedhis post-doctoral researchon the expression of cancer-associated glycans on breast cancer stem cells in Genomics Research Center, AcademiaSinica (Taiwan) from 2006 to 2009.Then he moved to School of Biomedical Sciences, Chung ShanMedical University (Taiwan) as Assistant Professor in 2009 and has been promoted to Associate Professor in 2012. Dr. Chang has demonstrated that heat shock protein 27 (Hsp27) regulates the tumorigenicity and self-renewal capability of breast cancer stem cells through epithelial-mesenchymal transition and NF-ï«B activation. He also has demonstrated that Hsp27 plays roles in chemoresistant feature and vasculogenic mimicry activity of breast cancer stem cells. Dr. Chang also has discovered several natural compounds with anti-cancer stem cell activity.
His major interests are to understand the signal transductionin the maintenance of cancer stem cells as well as to discover and study the mechanisms of anti-cancer stem cell agents from natural compounds.
