Dr. Wenze Niu received his Ph.D. in Physiology from East China Normal University, where he worked on protein detection based on amino acid sequence, dopamine receptor function in transgenic rat and molecular mechanism of Alzheimer’s disease. Upon graduation in 2007, he conducted postdoctoral research in Dr. Gang Yu’s laboratory at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. In collaboration with Dr. Joachim Herz at the same institute, Dr. Niu worked on frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Later, he joined the Chun-li Zhang’s Lab at UT Southwestern.
His major interests are neural stem cells, adult neurogenesis and neurological diseases related to striatum damage.
