Yagang Zhang
Department of Chemistry
University of Illinois, USA
Yagang received his B.S. from Lanzhou University and his M.S. from Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry/Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2003 with Prof. Eli, Wumanjiang working on Synthesis, Analysis and Mechanism for Bio-activity of Conjugated Linoleic Acid and Ester. He worked two years as a project manager at XJIPC for developing several oil and fats based fine chemicals. Then He moved to the United States in 2005 started his Ph.D. study with Prof. Ken D. Shimizu working on molecular recognition and molecular imprinted polymers. He joined Professor Zimmerman’s group as a Postdoc in 2010. Yagang is fascinated in designing novel material based on supramolecular interactions and molecular recognition. Yagang enjoys jogging, cooking. Beside chemistry, Yagang also interested in explore astrophysics and Cosmology (development of the Universe and) and Geophysics (how earthquake evolve and why it’s so difficult to predict it).
