Biography

Dr. Yuanyuan Li received her Ph.D. in Oncology from the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, during the period of 2003 to 2006. She began her postdoctoral training in Dr. Tollefsbol’s lab at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2006. Dr. Li was elected as Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Biology at UAB in 2011 due to her extraordinary accomplishments. Her research interests focus primarily on epigenetic regulation of dietary components in cancer prevention and therapy. She also shows interests in bioactive diet regulated-aging control and longevity. She authored several scientific peer-reviewed papers in different prestigious journals and also served as an invited scientific reviewer for many highly respected journals such as Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, Life Science and Cancer Letters. Her research contributions have received international recognition. Especially, one of her papers was selected for press release by the Editors of the FASEB Journal and has been extensively reported by various media presses. This paper was also been awarded best paper by UAB-based investigator(s) in the area of obesity or nutrition. Dr. Li was frequently invited to give oral presentations at different academic occasions and to present her studies at several national and international conferences. She is a member of American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) since 2007. She received several grants such as Junior Faculty Development grant from American Cancer Society (ACS) and UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center and a postdoctoral training grant from American Institute of Cancer Research (AICR).

Research Interest

Her research interests focus primarily on epigenetic regulation of dietary components in cancer prevention and therapy. She also shows interests in bioactive diet regulated-aging control and longevity.
