Biography
Chen Jiazhang, graduated from Nanjing University, is a Professor of Freshwater Fisheries Research Center (FFRC) of Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, and he is also a Professor of Fishery College of Nanjing Agricultural University. He is now the head of Fishery Environmental Protection Department of FFRC. His concurrent Post includes: Director of Monitoring Center for Fishery Eco-environment in the Lower Reaches of Yangtze River; Director of Laboratory of Environmental Factors Risk Assessment of aquatic product Quality Safety, Ministry of Agriculture; Post scientist of China Agricultural Research System; Deputy director of the academic committee of Fisheries ecological environment, Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences; Member of the Expert Committee on the conservation of water resources in the state; Member of the Committee of experts on the approval of the national pollution accident; Member of the Committee of experts on geographical indications for agricultural products; Member of the Standing Committee of the academic committee of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences; Member of editor board of Journal of Agro-environment Science; Member of editor board of Asian Journal of Ecotoxicology; Member of editor board of Scientific Fish Farming. His research interest focuses on fishery environmental protection and monitoring, and he has done extensive research in the areas of ecotoxicology, environmental risk assessment, quality and safety control of aquatic product, healthy and ecological aquaculture technology. He is the active advocate to develop and popularize Recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) and “Fish-Vegetable intergrowth” aquaculture mode in China. Professor Chen has published more than 180 papers and has been awarded with 11 prizes by the national government, province (ministry) and the municipalities, and has more than 30 authorized patents.

Biography
I completed my undergraduate studies in Agricultural Animal Production Science, (specialization in ichthyology and aquaculture), at the Department of Agriculture of Plant and Animal Production, University of Thessaly, Greece. My Ph.D. thesis was in fish diseases and was carried out at the same University at the Department of Veterinary Medicine. Since 2007, I am lecturer in aquatic animal health at the Department of Ichthyology & Aquatic Environment, School of Agricultural Sciences, University of Thessaly, Greece and I teach in the area of fish diseases, biosecurity in aquaculture and fish health management. My research interests are focused on parasitic, bacterial and viral diseases of cultured and wild fish, development of molecular techniques for pathogens detection and identification, fish welfare, health management in organic aquaculture, use of phytobiotics and responsible use of drugs in aquaculture.
