Breast cancer is the most widely invasive cancer in women and the second leading cause of cancer death in women after lung cancer. Breast cancer patients who got chemotherapy before medical procedure had heightened levels of cancer-initiating stem cells in their bone marrow, and the degree of such cells corresponded to a growth's lymph node involvement, as indicated by research from The University of Texas. It's the first prospective study to investigate the presence of breast cancer stem cells of primary breast cancer patients.
