It is characterized by the abnormal production of white blood cells, particularly immature or malfunctioning ones, leading to an impaired ability to fight infections and control bleeding. This devastating disease has garnered considerable attention from medical researchers and healthcare professionals due to its heterogeneity, wide-ranging effects, and the challenges it presents in diagnosis and treatment. In this comprehensive exploration of leukemia, we will delve into various aspects of the disease, including its types, causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment options, and ongoing analysis efforts aimed at improving outcomes for patients.
Symptoms
The symptoms of leukemia can vary depending on the type and stage of the disease. Common symptoms include:
Fatigue: Unexplained and persistent tiredness is a common symptom of leukemia.
Frequent infections: Leukemia impairs the immune system, making individuals more susceptible to infections.
Easy bruising and bleeding: Low platelet counts can lead to easy bruising, nosebleeds, and prolonged bleeding from minor cuts.
