Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) and depressive disorders are two of the most common mental diseases, and they co-occur more frequently than one might predict by coincidence. The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalence, course, and treatment of cooccurring AUD and depression. According to studies, co-occurring AUD and depressive disorders are linked to increased severity and a worse prognosis for both illnesses. For this demographic, both pharmaceutical and behavioural treatments have shown to be effective. However, therapeutic response is minimal, particularly in terms of drinking consequences, underscoring the need for more aetiology study. Studies to better understand the variety of both AUD and depressive disorders, research on novel treatment techniques to improve outcomes, and a better knowledge of sex and gender disparities are all important future objectives. Alcohol abuse has long been recognised as a factor in lung pathology. The modulation of lung in response to injury is likely influenced by the junction of multi-organ responses to alcohol-mediated tissue injury. Alcohol's deleterious impact on infection susceptibility and lung barrier function is now well established. As a result, the alcohol lung is a plausible comorbidity for the harmful effects of both COVID-19 susceptibility and severity.
We address the known ramifications of alcohol consumption on the lungs in the context of the current coronavirus pandemic in this review. Alcohol use disorders are characterised by compulsive heavy drinking and a loss of control over alcohol consumption. Alcohol use disorders are among the most common mental diseases worldwide, particularly in high- and upper-middle-income nations, and are linked to high mortality and disease burden, primarily due to medical repercussions such as liver cirrhosis or damage.
