This field plays an essential role in numerous scientific and industrial fields, including drug discovery, environmental monitoring, forensic science, and material science. In this article, we will discuss the importance and applications of analytical chemistry.
Identification of chemical compounds
Analytical chemistry is used to identify unknown compounds present in various substances, such as drugs, food, and environmental samples. For example, in the drug discovery process, analytical chemists analyze the chemical structure and properties of potential drug compounds to identify the most effective drug candidate.
