Clinical Proteomics is a special peer-reviewed proteomics journal published as a special issue this year by Journal of Proteomics and Bioinformatics. Clinical Proteomics covers scientific research in the field of translational proteomics with an emphasis on the application of proteomic technology to all aspects of clinical research. It was established in 2014 and the editor-in-chief is Alan J Tackett (University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences).

Clinical Proteomics considers manuscripts based on not only clinical but also all aspects of functional and structural proteomics. Journal of Proteomics and Bioinformatics is an open access, peerreviewed, online journal considering research in proteomics. The special issue Clinical Proteomics will consider studies in the area of structural biology, mass spectrometry, protein arrays, bioinformatics, cell biology, signal transduction and physiology where the study relates to proteomics and publishes articles on a variety of subjects including clinical sample collection and handling to preserve proteins, new technology including protein arrays, microanalytic devices, nanotechnology, and biosensors for protein-based clinical bioassays and clinical chemistry assays.

A major goal of the special issue Clinical Proteomics is to publish papers that identify and fill scientific knowledge gaps at the junction of basic research and human applications in the field of proteomics. In this vein, original research published in Clinical Proteomics should report significant progress toward the field of proteomics, biomarker discovery, protein analytics, microbial and animal proteomics, human studies, tissue imaging by mass spectrometry, non-conventional and nonmodel organism proteomics, and protein bioinformatics. The journal welcomes papers in new and upcoming areas such as metabolomics, genomics, systems biology, toxicogenomics, pharmacoproteomics. It will help in prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of disease, which serve as templates for future explorations and investments in the field of translational medicine and transform our understanding of human biology or catalyze new directions of explorations toward improved human health. These papers preferably will provide insights and evidence with influence beyond their own fields of research.

Finally, we will publish papers that meet rigorous criteria of excellence and innovation, while providing authors with prompt and expert editing and peer review. All manuscripts are strictly peer reviewed and confirm the highest ethical standards. We accept original research, as well as Reviews, Perspectives and Commentaries.
