As we are aware of this pandemic outbreak of COVID-19, the people across the globe has to be aware that it is been caused by SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. SARS-CoV-2 is highly contagious and often leads to severe viral pneumonia with respiratory failure and death in the elderly and subjects with pre-existing conditions. The fatal rate for COVID-19 is growing exponentially in many countries like Italy, Spain, South Korea, China, USA with the doubling time.
The coronavirus outbreak came to light on December 31, 2019 when China informed the World Health Organisation of a cluster of cases of pneumonia of an unknown cause in Wuhan City in Hubei Province.
Subsequently the disease spread to more Provinces in China, and to the rest of the world. The WHO has now declared it a pandemic. The virus has been named SARS-CoV-2 and the disease is now called COVID-19.
WHO (World Health Organisation) has came up with a plan to maintain the awareness among the people about the happenings across the globe. This strategic preparedness and response plan outlines the public health measures that the international community stands ready to provide to support all countries to prepare for and respond to COVID-19.
The document takes what we have learned so far about the virus and translates that knowledge into strategic action that can guide the efforts of all national and international partners when developing context-specific national and regional operational plans.
WHO is working 24/7 to analyse data, provide advice, coordinate with partners, help countries prepare, increase supplies and manage expert networks. The precautions are needed to be taken by everyone in order to protect themselves and others around them. To prevent the spread of COVID-19:
• Cleaning your hands with soap and water or alcohol based hand rub often.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
• Maintaining a safe distance from others who is coughing and sneezing.
• Staying home if unwell.
• In case, if you have a fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, seek medical attention and call the local health authority.
The journal should publish articles related to
• The current pandemic situation that has engulfed the entire world, COVID-19. Even, it may not fit in the field of dermatology field, all the detailed and updated data has to be published in the upcoming issue.

Journal of Clinical & Experimental Dermatology Research acquired 50 papers, from which 9 articles were rejected in the preliminary quality test as they are plagiarized with high percentage. Around 42 articles were sent to the reviewers for further peer-review process, in which 36 articles has been accepted by the Editor and reviewer. In 2019, the Journal has published its 10th Volume with 6 issues (Being bimonthly), in which nearly 36 articles were published online within time. The printed versions of the articles were sent to the authors who requested for it and were sent within 30 days of publishing the issue online. A total of 84 research scientists from all over the world reviewed 36 articles published in Volume 10. The average publication time of an article was estimated to be 42 days.
I thank all the dermatologists and researchers who are fighting their life to treat the pandemic skin diseases and all medical advisors, writers for making the experimental demonstration into a written document. I appreciate all the Editors and reviewers of the Journal who has stepped up and made the journal a success. I hope this support will be continued by all of them and maintain the standard of the Journal.
